While it no longer is a muslim majority country, I would anyway like to start with Al-Andalus as it has significant meaning to european muslims.

Granada (Gharnata) is now mostly famous for Alhambra (Qalat al hamra, red fortress), the palace of Naziri kings, the last muslim rulers in Iberian peninsula. One of the architectural wonders of the world, Alhambra is the most visited monument in all Spain.
On the neghboring hill is the Albaicin quarter that retains its original andalusi plan with narrow streets, and these days tourist shops where you can buy carpets, galabiya, hijab... and felafel&co shops Smile On top of the hill there is the only mosque in EU where adhan is called publicly. La mezqita mayor, as it is called in spanish, was started in 1980, when a parcel suitable for construction of a mosque was bought by spanish reverts to islam (who number about 1500 in the city). Due to administrative obstacles its construction took long time, but in 2003 it was completed and put ito service, alhamdolillah.

You can get a modest clean room in Granada for two for ca 30 EUR in the area between Gran via and Albaicin.
The best way to get there is from Treviso (Venice), 250 km from Ljubljana, where you can get cheap Ryanair filghts to Malaga and/or Sevilla. From there you can get to Granada by bus (1.5 hr from Malaga, see www.alsa.es) or by bus or train (www.renfe.es) from Sevilla (3 hr). If there is several of you then consider renting a car. If you have time in Malaga you can visit Gibralfaro, one of the last muslim strongholds in Spain. In Sevilla visit Alcazares reales (king's palace) and see La Giralda (once a minaret) - and by all means stop in Cordoba on the way!

And something extra for Slovenians Smile : the highest peak of and Al-Andalus (at 3479 m) is located just south from Granada. It's name Mulhacen is derived from the name of the penultimate king of Granada (Mulay Hasan). The road takes you to the ski centre at the altitude 2500 m, but it is still a long walk from there. You can (and practically must) do it in one day but make sure that you are fit and take enough water and food as none is available on the way. There are many places to stay along the road that leads from Granada to ski center and beautiful landscape lies all around, subhanallah.
